I CAN HAZ PROPR SPELLINGZ AND GRAMMER?

I have created some discussions on the Blackboard site: http://blackboard.ewu.edu/. Remember, my esteemed students, that as public historians our single greatest skill is the ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally. This is as true online as it is in person. In fact it is even more true online because Google never forgets that stupid comment you left on a blog in 2003.

So as we move some of the communication in this class online keep up your professionalism. Emails should begin with a salutation and close with a signature and follow the format of a professional business letter in-between. Posts online should follow standard rules of spelling and grammar. Remember the Five Ws and be sure that your communication contains all the information that I need to help you.

And speaking of email, make certain that you have an email address that is professional and that recipients can identify as you when the look at their in-box. Good: Susan.Smith@gmail.com. Bad: SexySuz@hotmail.com.
